Abstract

AbstractTensiometers are widely used in commercial and research applications where in situ soil water status must be monitored. Tensiometers in these situations have the disadvantage of requiring frequent servicing to remove gas bubbles and having relatively slow response times. In research where a large number of tensiometers is required to adequately monitor changes in soil water status, easily serviceable, fast response tensiometers are essential. This note describes the construction and operation of one such tensiometer system which proved useful in studies of the water relations of transplanted container soils.
