Abstract
En este trabajo se analiza la obra Lumbre del alma articulando tres dimensiones. Una será la cognitivo-intelectual, que insertará la obra en su contexto teológico-filosófico y en la historia de la literatura espiritual castellana del XVI. La otra, la social, atenderá a la historia del texto así como a las implicaciones sociales del mismo. En tercer lugar, la dimensión personal, que se ocupa de la trayectoria vital desde la que emana. Así, se abordará el análisis de los temas fundamentales de la obra de Cazalla, que fueron el libre albedrío y el amor, cuya elección y tratamiento reproduce la línea moderna de un pensamiento de raíz franciscana, afronta debates cruciales de su tiempo y permite leer un afán de mundanizar la santidad, hecho inaceptable a ojos de la autoridad inquisitorial, o a los guardianes de un canon ortodoxo.
