Abstract

In this work, a new type of highly efficient heterostructure photocatalyst comprised of BiPO4 and P doped BiVO4 was reported. P doped BiVO4 was synthesized by a hydrothermal method and the second phase BiPO4 was formed when P5+ doping amount was greater than its solid solubility, resulting in the construction of heterogeneous interface between BiVO4 and the second phase. Among all prepared samples, the BiV0.4P0.6O4 (The actual compositions: yBiPO4/BiV0.4P0.6-yO4) heterostructures exhibited an enhanced photocatalytic degradation of RhB, attributed to the interface between P doped BiVO4 and the second phase BiPO4, which effectively separated the photo-induced electron-hole pairs and suppressed their recombination.
