Abstract

This research considers the construction of a state space model for ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) plant using Rankine cycle. As the inputs to the model, both warm and cold seawater flow rates are selected. The state space model is constructed by introducing linear regression to the calculation of steady state quantities in a simple dynamic model. To check the behavior of the state space model, numerical simulations of step response and PI control were conducted. From the simulation results the usefulness of the constructed model was verified.
