Abstract

Fast and reliable simulation of an electrochemical Li-ion cellmodel is achieved using the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) combined with the empirical interpolation method (EIM). A new POD basis construction method for efficient model reduction is introduced for the simulation of batteries at different C-Rates, pulses, constant voltage charge and rest steps. The proposed reduced order model agrees well with the finite element (FE) method solver and requires 14 times less computation time than the FE model.
