Abstract

The sample environment of the powder diffractometer SV7-a at the FRJ-2 reactor of the FZ Jülich is supplemented with a newly developed furnace for measurements at elevated temperatures up to about 1000 K. Core pieces are two commercial U-shaped Kanthal heating elements surrounded by a graphite shielding. This assembly fits into a vacuum-tight sample tank. AC-power supply and control are achieved by a commercial Eurotherm unit using thermocouples. Constructional details, first neutronic and performance tests are reported.
