Abstract

There is little doubt that the use of accelerated beams of particles from polarized ion sources is experimentally most convenient for a study of reaction analysing powers. However, in the case of 3He particles no such beam has been available to the experimentalists. This fact stimulated experimental and theoretical study of the physical principles of a source of polarized 3He ions and its eventual construction at the Radial Ridge Cyclotron.
