Abstract

Summary form only given. Since the introduction of magnetic wood, the authors have proposed various functions such as heating, attraction and electromagnetic wave absorption. This paper aims to clarify, through experimentation, the relationships between magnetic wood construction and their magnetic characteristics. The three types of magnetic wood (an impregnated type, a powder type and a coating type) have differences in their construction ratios of wood parts and magnetic particles. The authors show the experimental results for DC magnetic characteristics of magnetic wood measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer. They then compare the experimental results of the main parameters for DC magnetic characteristics and specific gravity of magnetic wood. The results show that the magnetic characteristics rely heavily on magnetic density and the dispersal of magnetic particles. Among the three types of magnetic wood, the coating type magnetic wood, which has a dense existence of magnetic particles, shows the best results in terms of DC magnetic characteristics.
