Constraints as perceived and suggestions explored by the paddy growers in adoption of eco – friendly technology in paddy cultivation

Abstract

This study was carried out in Anand district of Gujarat state with specific objectives to find out the constraints as perceived by the paddy growers in adoption of eco – friendly technology and suggestions explored from the paddy growers to accelerate rate of adoption of eco – friendly technology in paddy cultivation. The study revealed that lack of awareness of environment pollution, quality aspects of bio-control are not assured, lack of knowledge about adverse effect of chemicals and pesticides, farmers are unaware about adverse effect of chemicals and pesticides were the major constraints faced by the majority of paddy growers in adoption of eco friendly technology whereas campaigns to create awareness against hazardous effect of chemicals should be organized, there should be more publicity through different media training should be arranged on ecofriendly agricultural practices and result and method demonstrations should be conducted to motivate farmers were the major suggestions offered by the majority of the paddy growers.
