Abstract

A coding method is presented that enables a receiver to detect and correct synchronization errors and additive errors, provided that only a single error occurs per code word. A code work consists of two segments, i.e. an information segment and a marker segment. The marker detects the occurrence of a synchronization error as well as the type of synchronization error, i.e. an insertion or a deletion. The new method also enables the construction of line constrained codes, such as DC-free codes and minimum bandwidth codes. >
