Abstract

A model for a linearized theory of thermoviscoelasticity is exhibited. Some restrictions for the constitutive equations are found as a direct consequence of thermodynamic principles, that turn out to be necessary and sufficient conditions for the validity of the Second Law. Such restrictions allow us to obtain existence and uniqueness of solution to the quasi-static problem.
