Abstract

The activity of Ti in Ti-C alloys was determined at 850 K by emf measurements on galvanic cells using CaF 2 solid electrolytes. The phase boundary of the TiC phase was fixed by X-ray diffraction in the temperature range 873 to 1153 K. These results along with literature data were used as a basis for a thermodynamic optimization of the system using a computer program based on the least squares method after GauB. Optimized and experimental data turned out to be in good agreement
