Abstract
A self-consistent constant longitudinal electric field is shown to exist in a collisional electronic cold plasma through which a circularly polarized plane wave is propagating. This electric field arises from the displacement of the electrons from the immobile ions and constitutes a return force which exactly balances the forward Lorentz force due to the collisions.
