Abstract

The constant-contact technique is a modification of the standard two-point-touch long-cane travel technique that increases feedback from the walking surface, and allows accurate location of walkway margins and more prompt detection of drop-offs. Sticking is prevented by the marshmallow cane tip and this also gives an advantage to aged and multiply handicapped persons whose use of the standard technique may require modification.
