Abstract

A staff crisis with near-tragic consequences on a locked adolescent psychiatry unit is engendered by silence and resolved through effective communication. The catalyst is a uniquely disturbing, even shocking, case. The Director of the program discusses the near-disintegration of a competent staff and its reconstruction through administrative intervention. Using innovative supervisory techniques, group dynamics are utilized to move from disorganization to professionalism.
