Abstract

The University of Washington Board of Regents has established a College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences. The new college, officially opening on September 1, will comprise the School of Oceanography, the School of Fisheries, the Institute for Marine Studies, the Applied Physics Laboratory, and the Washington Sea Grant Program. The board also appointed D. James Baker, Jr., as acting dean of the college. He has been chairman of the university's oceanography department since 1979.
