Abstract

Experimentally a rich variety of interesting properties has been observed in the valence fluctuation state of f-electron systems but theoretical understanding of them is rather poor still now. In this situation it is important to do extended studies on selected typical materials. In this article concise reviews of such an effort for Ce-monopnictides and CeB 6 are given. On the former some controversy was raised recently but it is shown here that all the properties including the newest discovery are well explained by the p-f mixing model self-consistently. New development was reported recently on CeB 6 and its family and it is reported here that an extended study indicates that all the available properties are consistently explained mainly based on the c-f mixing model. It is emphasized that the Kondo regime is essentially different from the VF regime in particular on the Fermi surface structure.
