Abstract
The response of the dosimetric system containing 0·20 m M ferrous ammonium sulphate, 5·0 m M benzoic acid and 0·20 m M xylenol orange in 0·05 N sulphuric acid (FBX dosimeter) at low doses is not very susceptible to the variation in its composition. The dosimetric solutions could be stored for about 2 weeks before irradiation and upto 3 days after irradiation without any significant error in dose estimations. The paper gives a calibration curve for cobalt-60 radiation, and the response to 14·7 MeV neutrons, fission neutrons and recoils from 10B(n, α) 7Li reaction. The FBX dosimeter could be used for dosimetry of X, gamma and neutrons in the range 0·1–3000 rad.
