Abstract

Significant differences in term of concentration may be introduced in sample before analysis. They define preanalytical variability which constitutes a part of the overall variability affecting biological result. The principal sources of variability must be identified and preventive measures performed to minimize clinical consequences. Some factors operate in vivo prior and during sampling. Others concern in vitro sample processing and storage.
