Abstract
This paper explores Web-based social work education, noting that Social Policy courses are particularly well-suited to Web delivery. It discusses factors that need to be considered in delivering social work courses over the Web, including pedagogical strategies and students' access to and comfort with technology, using a Web-based course in Social Welfare Law as its exemplar. Evaluation data, supported by the literature, suggest that as social work students gain skills and access to computers they will be more satisfied with Web courses, particularly if they reduce travel or enable students to take otherwise unavailable courses. Greater skill and access to more powerful computers will also increase the feasibility of incorporating a broader range of course delivery elements, such as audio and video, into Web teaching.
