Abstract

Experimental and analytical results were combined to develop a torsional moment spectrum for a semi-immersed rectangularly shaped prism (draft-water depth) = 0.25. Incident wave patterns were oriented perpendicular to the prism resulting in a two-dimensional analysis. The spectrum plots a dimensionless torque coefficient as a function of a dimensionless wave number. Comparison of Experimental and Analytical results indicate good agreement. Results also indicate that me magnitude of torsional moment that can be imposed upon a structure from wave action for the case examined is significant.
