Abstract

With the use of the procedure of a combined specimen, the limiting depths of penetration of powder strikers of silicon carbide and copper into 45 steel have been found. The efficiency of retardation of the strikers by a block of layered obstacles depending on the foil material has been determined. Based on the complex analysis of the information obtained, it has been proposed that high‐speed jets whose forepart consists of the microstriker material and whose main rear part consists of the obstacle metal are formed in the process of superdeep penetration.
