Abstract
Of the common eye drop preservatives benzalkonium chloride, phenylmercuric borate, chlorhexidine digluconate and phenylethanol, sorption losses were determined which occurred at contact with rubber or plastics of commercially available eye drop bottles. Of all tested materials only chlorbutyl rubber and polypropylene did not sorb detectable amounts of the preservatives.
