Abstract

The effects of global changes may have tremendous effects on ecosystem functionality, particularly in vulnerable areas such as the Mediterranean Basin. Understanding the relationship between anthropogenic stressors and complex processes of adaptation and survival of trees and populations, requires synergic approaches which combine information about gene expression and physiological traits. In this paper the effects of global change on genetic diversity of forest trees is discussed, as a basis for future land use planning and forest management.
