Abstract
Although only 5% of all women who reach the age of 40 years have ever been diagnosed with endometrial adenocarcinoma 30% of atypical endometrial hyperplastic lesions have a malignant potential. The standard treatment for both conditions has been hysterectomy but conservative progestin therapy has been proposed for fertility preservation in young women. Successful conservative therapy with high-dose medroxyprogesterone in 2 women of reproductive age is reported. One of the women had early endometrial carcinoma and the other had atypical endometrial hyperplasia. There was no disease recurrence at 1 year. (excerpt)
