Abstract

Hindfoot involvement in children with juvenile chronic arthritis has been investigated. 50 children were seen; there was bilateral involvement in 36 and one foot was affected in 14. Correction of hindfoot deformity by manipulation under anaesthesia combined with a local corticosteroid injection improved the position and pain in the majority of patients. Children with a short duration of symptoms did best.
