Abstract

After the end of cold war in1990, the traditional security threats decreased and a new set of nontraditional/ nonmilitary threats immersed among which environmental degradation and climate change are the most devastating transnational threats which not only affect human life, but also pose serious security threat to the state which might entangle military. Deforestation induces environmental degradation which could be mitigated by conserving forests. Many countries engaged armed forces/ military to conserve environment and got outstanding results. In Bangladesh, the degradation of environment already started taking heavy toll. Therefore, integrated conservation plan, predominated by military may play vital role in repairing and recovering the loss for the sustainable environment and development of Bangladesh through ensuing security.
