Abstract

Downlink multi-user multiple input multiple output (DL MU-MIMO) transmissions with transmission opportunity (TXOP) sharing introduced in the very high throughput (VHT) 802.11ac amendment are a new method for providing quality of service (QoS) different than the legacy-enhanced distributed channel access function. This letter introduces a new mathematical model of VHT DL MU-MIMO transmissions with TXOP sharing, which can not only be used to estimate the medium access control layer throughput but also to draw novel conclusions on the impact of 802.11ac device settings on greater flexibility in QoS provisioning in 802.11ac networks.
