Abstract

This conference, a sequel to the Consensus Conference on the Classification of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) held in Philadelphia in 1997, focused on the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, adjuvant therapy, follow-up, prognostic markers, and reporting end points of DCIS. The end points of treatment discussed at the conference included breast conservation with appropriate cosmesis; risks of recurrence, metastasis, contralateral DCIS, and invasive cancer; and mortality specific to breast carcinoma.
