Abstract
Purpose: To investigate the risk of early and delayed consecutive exotropia occurring following bilateral medial rectus (MR) fadenoperations (no recession) or unilateral, bilateral MR recession in combination with fadenoperations. Material and Methods: Two hundred eleven esotropia cases who were operated between 1994 and 2005 at the Strabismus Department of Istanbul Beyoglu Eye Educational and Research Hospital were included in this study. In 65 cases (Group I), unilateral MR recession in combination with fadenoperations, in 123 cases (Group II), bilateral MR recession in combination with fadenoperations, in 23 cases (Group III), bilateral medial rectus (MR) fadenoperations (no recession) were performed.
