Abstract

In order to optimize the direction of arrival (DOA) pattern of a sonar that is made of arrayed transducers, we propose a new data-processing method. The method consists of consecutive application of the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method and the directionally constrained minimization of power (DCMP) method. The MUSIC method gives us DOAs of all incident signals on the arrayed transducers. Then, the information concerning the DOAs are used for determining constraints for the DCMP method, by which null sensitivities are formed against DOAs of disturbing signals. Here, conventionally, a complex weight vector obtained from the DCMP method was not able to incorporate into the MUSIC method again to verify the goodness of the settings of the constrains or to confirm the degree of the performance of the nulls. We have developed a technique to incorporate the weight vector into the MUSIC method again. Some simulation results are shown.
