Abstract
Charged‐particle‐induced reactions, such as the (p,γ), (α,γ), (α,p) and heavy ion fusion reactions, play important roles in stellar evolution. Due to the Coulomb barrier penetration effect, the cross sections decrease exponentially as the incident energy approaches the interesting astrophysical energy regions, which makes these experiments very challenging. In this talk, I will discuss two challenging problems in experimental nuclear astrophysics, the 12C(α,γ)16O reaction and the heavy ion fusion reactions.
