Abstract
Conodont dating of some Telychian (Silurian) sections in Estonia
Highlights
Different intervals of Telychian (Adavere Stage) and/or lower Sheinwoodian (Jaani Stage) strata are exposed in the sections discussed below
Several Telychian–Sheinwoodian strata exposed in Estonia are precisely dated using conodont biostratigraphy
In terms of sequence stratigraphy, the strata of the Adavere Stage correspond to Sequence 4 (S4) and those of the Mustjala Member to the lower part of Sequence 5 (S5) (Harris et al 2005)
Summary
Different intervals of Telychian (Adavere Stage) and/or lower Sheinwoodian (Jaani Stage) strata are exposed in the sections discussed below. The strata in the Velise-Kõrgekalda section correspond to the Lower subzone of the P. amorphognathoides angulatus Zone. The sample (M-1962; weight 5.31 kg) comes from a bed between two discontinuity surfaces, the upper of which is considered to correspond to the boundary between the Rumba and Velise formations.
