Abstract

Connective tissue diseases are commonly associated with a variety of pulmonary complications. Among these, interstitial lung disease is a frequent comorbidity and also an exceeding driver of morbidity and mortality in the affected population, for which high level of suspicion and proactive screening may be determinant to prognosis. On the other side, interstitial lung disease is customarily the first clinical presentation of yet uncovered connective tissue diseases. In this article, we introduce the evolving field of connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease and expand further on mixed connective tissue disease, Sjogren's syndrome, and systemic lupus erythematosus-associated interstitial lung disease.
