Abstract
The inverse problem for the generalized Zakharov-Shabat equation and the inverse problem for the Schroedinger equation having an energy-dependent potential were studied. By using their respective inverse scattering transforms it is shown that some nonlinear evolution equations can be solved. It is also shown that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the two inverse problems considered, as well as between the inverse scattering transforms.
