Abstract

Bulk Ti-Al-based alloys with a mass of 30 g are prepared by electromagnetic levitation (EML). V addition makes the Ti-45%Al alloy transform from γ-TiAl alloy to α2-Ti3Al alloy and changes the mechanical properties of γ and α2 phases. As a new kind of α2-Ti3Al alloy, Ti-45%Al-12%V prepared by EML performs good mechanical properties at room and elevated temperatures.
