Abstract

Long-haul heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) transport is an important contributor to greenhouse emissions, therefore must undergo a profound transformation towards sustainable means of propulsion. Decarbonization via electrification of HDV vehicles is challenging due to the need for increased range and heavy payload, and while the industry engages in this challenge, complementary solutions that address decarbonation immediately are pertinent. Vehicle connectivity is expected to play a major role towards increased efficiency and safety in vehicle use.Connected features has been developed to optimize HDV mission profile planning. These features form the Eco-routing web-service allowing to choose the optimal mission trajectory. These features have other applications, from vehicle design to fleet surveillance, to connection to other solutions such as eco-driving, eco-coaching, or energy management.
