Abstract

Highway lifelines would be seriously damaged by major natural disasters. According to the lack of timely and effective information, it was very difficult to quickly judge the damage situation of highway lifelines, which would seriously affect the efficiency of emergency rescue work. Through research on data of natural disasters and road damage status in the mountainous areas of China, the paper summarized the failure modes and characteristics of the highway lifelines during major natural disasters and studied the influence factors of the connected reliability of highway lifeline such as geological hydrology, weather condition, and highway state. In order to solve the problem that the emergency services can't get enough information when facing the major natural disasters, the paper put forward a method to quickly judge connected reliability of highway lifelines. The research results would be conducive to providing guidance for fast pre-judgment of highway damage situation and guaranteeing emergency work smoothly proceeds after natural disasters.
