Abstract

Numerical simulation is performed of heat transfer and hydrodynamics under conditions of motion of a viscous incompressible liquid in an open rectangular cavity with allowance made for the process of melting of its walls. Temperature distributions for the solid and liquid phases, as well as the velocity fields and the contours of craters being formed, are obtained at different moments of time. The effect of the model parameters and of the liquid flow mode on the pattern of motion and heat transfer of liquid in the cavity is studied.
