Abstract

Commercially processed coniferous bark pieces are compared with limestone rock as the substrate in barbeque basket macroinvertebrate samplers under a range of water quality conditions. There was no significant difference between the two substrates as to numbers of individuals or genera collected. Shannon diversity or trophic condition index. Tree bark provides a useful and effective substrate particularly where access to sampling stations makes sampler weight a concern.
