Abstract

• The use of CoNi alloy to improve the microwave absorption properties of MoS2. • The CoNi-MoS2 has a reflection loss of −60.93 dB with the thickness of 4.93 mm. • This work provides a strategy for the synthesis of efficient microwave absorbers. Composites consisting of magnetic CoNi particles and flower MoS 2 (CoNi-MoS 2 ) have been prepared, by using a hydrothermal reaction method, for microwave absorption. When the CoNi-MoS 2 molar ratio is 1:1, optimal absorption performance is achieved, with reflection loss of −60.93 dB at 5.68 GHz, while the thickness is 4.93 mm. The outstanding microwave absorption performance is attributed to the synergy of the magnetic and dielectric losses, which greatly improves the impedance matching and increases the decay constants of the materials.
