Abstract

Of the approximately 280 cases of congenital pericardialcoelomic cysts which are reported in the literature, only 4 were observed in children. Another case is reported: A large pericardial cyst in which the phrenic nerve was embedded, could be successfully removed in a 31/2-year old girl. The etiology of these cysts, which is still debated, and the frequently difficult differentiation from cystic lymphangiomas are briefly discussed.
