Abstract

Summary 1. A patient with atresia of the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile passages is reported who survived for nine years. 2. Studies of fat absorption carried out at different levels of fat intake showed that the administration of liberal quantities of fat served to increase fat absorption and was associated with clinical benefit. 3. Emulsifying procedures failed to produce significantly better fat absorption. 4. The nature of the bone changesand the possible factors contributing to longevity in this condition are discussed.
