Abstract

A 22-year-old woman has had very small pupils since birth. Vision was 20/20 in each eye, pupillary size was 1 mm (Fig A) and did not change after administration of dilating drops, including 1% atropine (Fig B). On ultrasound biomicroscopy, both iris dilator muscles were very thin (Fig C-D, arrow), and persistent pupillary membrane was visible (Fig C-D, arrowhead). Diagnosis of microcoria was made and full microsomal micro-essay screen for mutations on chromosome 13, previously associated with microcoria, was negative.
