Abstract
Twenty-five cases of congenital absence of the vagina have been reviewed. The clinical syndromes encountered include simple absence of the vagina, male pseudohermaphroditism., and Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser synrdrome. Complete physical and laparotomy data are detailed in 14 cases. The surgical procedures and their results are evaluated in 19 cases. The McIndoe procedure and its modification by Counseller are the procedures of choice in vaginal reconstruction. Laparotomy should be a routine procedure prior to vaginal reconstruction.
