Abstract

A conceptual framework for group work practice with people with AIDS based on insights form existential psychotherapy and group development theory is presented with special attention to the persistence of issues of loss, separatin and death. A group interactional subtest reflecting the tension between the denial of AIDS and the morbid preoccupation with illness and death is identifies. An approach to intervention is offered through practice illustrations and analysis.
