Abstract

Automatic Meter Reading Systems (AMRS) provides the utility consumers and the utility providers with a convenient, fast, and consumer independent means of reading the amount of consumed medium. Because of their convenience, AMRS are becoming more and more popular solution for remote tracking of utility resources (water, gas, heat, electricity) consumption data collection. Conformity assessment, including security of data and parameters of such AMRS, is presented in this paper. We propose a procedure (stages) for the conformity assessment of AMRS and discuss two AMRS validation scenarios that we developed. They can be used in dealing with multiple configuration AMRS. This provides metrology community with the benefit of the uniform outlook at the conformity assessment of AMRS, as well as simplification of addition of the AMRS to the distributed legal metrology infrastructure. Presented approaches and solutions are useful for the metrology community, as well as for the manufacturers.
