Abstract

Crystallization of conformationally flexible 1,8-dipyridylnaphthalene under various conditions resulted in conformational polymorphism and encapsulation of T5(2)-clusters consisting of fused cyclic water pentamers that form isolated water channels surrounded by a highly hydrophobic environment.
