Abstract

The dilute solution properties of the new siloxane-azomethine alternating copolymers obtained by polycondensation reaction between a preformed azomethyne macromer and α, ω-bis(chloromethyl) polydimethylsiloxanes were studied by viscosity measurements. A method proposed by Qian et al.was utilized to determine the radius of gyration in the perturbed state, as well as the second virial coeficient, and unperturbed parameters expressed by intrinsic viscosity in unperturbed state, such as the Kτ parameter or radius of gyration in the unperturbed state. The short- and long-range interaction parameters were discussed by interpenetration function ψ( z) or hydrodynamic penetration function π( z).
