Abstract
There is a fundamental limit in designing wide-band microstrip antennas on a thin substrate. Frequency reconfigurable structures provide a solution to this problem. A novel conformal frequency reconfigurable microstrip antenna is introduced in this article. The frequency range of 10-dB return loss of the proposed antenna is six times more than that of a corresponding simple rectangular microstrip antenna with the same substrate. Note that the proposed antenna has efficiency of more than 70% at all the in-band frequencies.
